Magic Maths - Half-term Drop-in Workshops
Date: May half-term 2024
Location: Hale End Library and Leytonstone Library
The maths magic workshops focus on numeracy skills, calculation strategies, maths vocabulary, and mental arithmetic. They are most suitable for KS1 and KS2 (primary-aged children from age 5-11) and include tricks to cover repeating patterns, finding the difference, estimating, 2D/3D shapes, place value, times tables, and partition skills, amongst other topics.
Participants learn a number of amazing mathematical tricks and how to present them to an audience while gaining confidence with mental arithmetic. Maths workshops contain maths activities following up on one or more of the maths concepts or strategies explored in their workshop.
The emphasis is on taking part in a fun, hands-on and practical workshop which teaches some magic tricks whilst brushing up on maths and numeracy skills. These workshops are perfect for anyone interested in improving their maths skills whilst learning some magic tricks and having fun!
